| Environmental protection begins from home. Let's explore our Green Horizon together. |
| 1 | According to Environment Hong Kong 2002, domestic wasteload have increased by 4% per year over the past 5 years, even though the population has grown by only 0.9% per year. The overall growth rate was 2.8% when commercial, industrial and other waste are included. The increase in wasteload is much higher than the government's anticipation, thus shorten the lifespan of the landfills by 5-10 years. |
| 2 | According to Environment Hong Kong 2001, the average production of domestic waste by a person per day was 1.13 kilograms. Assuming there are 600 million people in Hong Kong, if each person could reduce his or her waste production by 0.1% per day, the waste load delivered to the landfills would be decreased by 600 tons. |
| 3 | According to a survey published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the human demand of natural resources has increased from 70% of the resources supply in 1961 to 120% in 1999. |
